Project Road Map

INQUIRY

Hello! Thank you for finding us!

The inquiry process will tell us all if we're a good fit. We are committed to working only with folks we think we can bring exceptional value to. If that's music to your ears: digital high five! Please read on.

RECEIVE and ACCEPT PROPOSAL ➞ 1/4 INVOICE

If we're in the same ballpark on budget, scope, and timeline, we'll write a fresh, shiny proposal specifically for your company, including start and finish dates, a detailed list of what will be included in your project, cost, more process details, and next steps.

Once you officially accept the proposal, you'll receive an invoice for 1/4 of the estimate. The second invoice comes after design approval, and the final invoice comes at launch time.

PROJECT SETUP

Sending initial payment is what schedules your project! Keep an eye out for an invitation to join our project management site next. That's where we'll collaborate and collect project details.

DESIGN SURVEY

Next you'll receive a big-picture survey that covers three areas: your business, your audience, and your preferences for your new site's look and feel.

SEND CONTENT

We believe in content-first design. (For so many reasons! More on that to come.) The last step before design work can begin is to have a close look at your current architecture/navigation, graphic assets (things like logo, illustrations, icons), site copy, and photography. Though you'll be able to edit your future site, we'll need a practical amount of "real" content in order to begin.

OFFICIAL PROJECT START DATE

This day might come and go with little fanfare, but big dominoes are falling behind the scenes! On or just before your scheduled project start date, we will be holding our own internal kickoff meeting. You can learn more about that here! Kickoff Details » (Invoice 2/4)

DESIGN REVEAL

Happy day! At this point, Lauren is done weaving your content and preferences into a fresh direction for the site. Grab some coffee and have a look! Lauren will send information about the design choices, and some helpful notes on how to give feedback.

DEVELOPMENT SITE SETUP  SITE TRAINING  BEGIN CONTENT ENTRY

In parallel to design progress, Zak will be working away on nuts and bolts! You'll get an invite to the development site -- that's the naked site structure before it has any clothes on. That will come later. At this point you'll also start getting familiar with the admin side of your site and entering real content.

DESIGN REVISION APPROVAL

Each design mockup includes up to three rounds of revision, but 1-2 rounds is typical to get on target. Coding work begins as each mockup is approved.  (Invoice 3/4)

DEVELOPMENT MAGIC

Ahhh, relax for a while while Zak integrates the approved concepts and works on making them look modern and beautiful on your phone and tablet.

ADDING CONTENT ➞ SITE TESTING

Time for some heavy-lifting behind the scenes as products are added and information pages (like Contact, About, FAQ) start to sparkle with content. Then we'll test and tinker with checkout until all systems are go!

FINAL INVOICE

The site is built, polished, and ready to deploy. Our work here is almost done; invoice 4/4 is coming your way. Please note: we are flexible about splitting up payments. If a different schedule is more convenient, let us know. We will work with you!

REVEAL and REJOICE!

Some clients like to celebrate with a bang! Others like to tiptoe quietly on the scene. Whatever your style is, we will be celebrating with you on launch day. Cheers! Hope you're not sick of us yet though, because:

SURPRISE

The process ends just like it begins, with a hello! We aren't going anywhere. We'll check in on you in about a month, then at the three and six month marks. Your business is going to grow and change, and web standards will too. We're ready to pour our hearts and smarts into growing together with you.
